I just learned the other day that you don’t have to put two spaces after sentences.  I just did it after typing that last sentence.  And again after that one. I’ve been doing it my whole life for some reason so please bear with me while I go through this challenging time.

There are 4 types of forms in the Power Platform / Dynamics. Technically, the forms are in the Power Platform, not Dynamics. The Power Platform is the platform Dynamics (and hundreds of other SaaS products live on. However, because Dynamics was created first, the community still refers to them synonymously – so I’ll do the same.

Below I’ll give a summary on each type of form. Check out the video to see more and I’ll show you exactly where to go to make them.

Main Forms are the form you see most often. When you open a record in a model-driven app (Dynamics Sales/Dynamics Marketing) this is the type of form you’re seeing. These are great for showing the most amount of information.
Quick Create Forms are the forms you see that pop up on the right-hand side of your screen when you press the add button on related records (or from the quick create button). I show you exactly what I mean by that in the video. Use these when users will be creating records from a related table.

Quick View Forms are forms within a form. These are best limited to 3 or 4 fields and are use with lookup fields.  Attach this form to a lookup field to show additional information from a child record’s parent.  Ex: You can show additional Account fields on a Contact form as long as they’re related.

Card Forms are IMO the most underutilized form type. They’re the hardest type to get working, but it’s not that bad. Just follow along with the video below. Card forms are meant to be used on views. Instead of displaying the data in a table, it shows each record in a card. Again, IMO I would lean towards using these instead of a sub grid whenever possible.
